Out-of-Zone Enrolments

Come and be part of Orewa Beach School

At Orewa Beach School, we believe school should be a place where children feel known, valued and excited about learning.

We are proud to be a school with strong roots in our unique coastal community and a clear focus on preparing our tamariki for their future.

We warmly invite families living outside our school zone who are looking for a positive, connected and forward-thinking school community to apply.

Why Orewa Beach School?
At Orewa Beach School, our vision is simple:

KIND HEARTS - COASTAL ROOTS - FUTURE READY MINDS
We want every child to feel a strong sense of belonging, connection and confidence while developing the knowledge and skills they need to thrive.

Kind Hearts                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                      We nurture caring, confident and resilient learners who value themselves, others and the community around them.

Coastal Roots
Our unique place shapes who we are. We help our tamariki build a strong connection to our school, our stories and our coastal community, developing pride in where they belong.

Future-Ready Minds                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                    Strong foundations in literacy and numeracy sit alongside creativity, collaboration, communication and critical thinking, preparing our learners with the confidence and curiosity to embrace their future

How Out-of-Zone Enrolment Works

Students who live within the Orewa Beach School home zone are entitled to enrol at the school.

Each year, the Board considers projected in-zone enrolments and the school's capacity before determining whether places can be made available to students who live outside the school zone.

If the number of out-of-zone applications exceeds the number of places available, applications must be processed in the order set out in the Education and Training Act 2020.

The statutory priorities are:

First Priority – Siblings of current students.

Second Priority – Siblings of former students.

Third Priority – Children of former students.

Fourth Priority – Children of employees of the Board or children of members of the Board.

Fifth Priority – All other applicants.

Where there are more applicants within a priority group than places available, a ballot will be held.

Applicants who are unsuccessful in the ballot will be placed on a waiting list in the order determined by the ballot.

The advertised number of places is the number the Board currently considers likely to be available. The final number may be adjusted once expected in-zone enrolments for 2027 have been confirmed.
