Pīwakawaka Team

Kia ora and welcome to Pīwakawaka! Our Year 2 team is all about creating a fun, positive, welcoming space where tamariki feel valued, supported, and ready to learn. We strive to build a solid foundation in all areas of the curriculum with a strong focus on reading, writing, and maths, while also encouraging curiosity, creativity, and a love of learning.

Our tamariki are at the centre of all we do, and we believe in creating learning experiences that respond to their interests, strengths, and needs. We see the importance of providing hands-on, engaging learning that includes opportunities for collaboration, problem-solving, and exploring the world around them. Alongside our structured literacy and maths programmes, we weave in real-world topics to explore so our tamariki can ask questions, share ideas, and make meaningful connections.

Building strong relationships is vital to our team. We work closely with whānau and value open communication, celebrating each child’s progress along the way. Our goal is to help every learner grow in confidence, develop independence, and feel a real sense of belonging as they continue their learning journey with us in Year 2.
