Kia Ora and welcome to the Takahē team! In the Takahē team, you’ll find a group of energetic, curious, and kind-hearted tamariki. They look out for one another, celebrate each other's successes, and are leaders at our school.
As teachers, we value working collaboratively with whānau to nurture the growth of tamariki. In the classroom, we build positive and respectful relationships that support the tamariki’s learning and well-being. A key focus throughout Year 5 is developing the students' leadership skills and independence. By fostering a safe and supportive space, we give our students the "room to grow" as they learn to manage their responsibilities and lead with integrity.
Throughout the year, Takahē tamariki are encouraged to participate in the many extracurricular activities available to them, including performing arts, sports, kaimahi, librarian duty and wet lunch monitors. These opportunities allow Takahē students to build their independence and confidence, while developing skills in areas they are passionate about.
We look forward to working alongside you and your tamariki for a successful Year 5 at Ōrewa Beach School!
